Is it possible to mass edit contacts using the google android api

I would like to know if it is possible using the android api to access开发者_C百科 all of the contacts on my samsung galaxy s2 and do a string replace on every telephone number and remove all dashes.

For some reason when i changed phones recently, my new s2 has all these dashes in the telephone numbers and i want to remove them.
