You don't need to use a Calendar
instance. Here's a simpler solution:
long millisStart = System.currentTimeMillis();

long millisEnd = System.currentTimeMillis();
System.out.println(millisEnd - millisStart);
Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance();
long millisStart = cal.getTimeInMillis();
// run your query here
cal = Calendar.getInstance();
